Art Blog of the Day - The Wish Jar

This is an incredibly inspiring blog from Keri Smith.

Guerilla Art is a fascinating discipline but that is not the most remarkable thing about this particular blog as Keri is a thinker and that is the most engaging element here. Definitely worth a read and adding to your weblog list.

Our resident artist is passionate about abstract art. We thought it would be good for her to explain exactly what it is about abstract art that really captivates and inspires her as part of our series looking more in-depth at our resident artist, Catherine Smith:

"Abstract art has always inspired me. There has always been something about this concept that really conveys emotions and feelings strongly.

"So how do I start with a piece of abstract art? Well, my designs are usually inspired by three components - atmosphere, colour and texture. There are certainly other aspects to consider but these three are usually my main driving forces.

"Once these are in place they tend to work together to inspire the perfect abstract painting."

If you would like to find out more then please subscribe to this blog and/or contact us. Otherwise, to view Catherine's complete range of abstract paintings then visit our abstract art gallery.

Our art blog of the day today is by Ambera Wellmann who is a painter who lives and studies in Halifax Nova Scotia. Now, we have never been to Nova Scotia but can imagine that the general atmosphere is captivated in Ambera's beautiful landscapes.

Great paintings and a great blog! One to add to the blogroll.

We have blogged before about how important textured art can be. It can totally transform an otherwise rather normal canvas into something far more vibrant and imposing.

That is why we have created a special gallery displaying our range of art that uses texture to special effect. Our resident artist Catherine Smith is an expert at creating textured artwork that really stands out.

Visit our textured art gallery today for more inspiration.

Today we are profiling Central Blast from our abstract range.

Those who read our blog regularly and has visited our galleries will know that 'blast' is a style that Catherine Smith uses regularly. This particular style is painted in dark brown with a vibrant and energetic golden centre.

Central Blast really leaps out from the canvas with the gold giving a very dramatic feel to the artwork. In Catherine Smith's own words:
