Art for your office
Our guide to giving your office or workplace a design makeover
Work is one of those every tasks that we all have to do. But sitting in a bare office all day hardly makes this more enjoyable. We have given some quick and easy tips to transforming your workplace into somewhere that everyone will enjoy.
Hang some paintings or art
You might have guessed that we would start with this, but it is actually the simplest and easiest way to transform any office. Before you start, think about the colours of your walls and whether you need any lighting to make a painting or picture really stand out
Once you know where you want the paintings to go, decide on the style of painting that you want. Contemporary or abstract art is probably best. We recommend going for something hand painted and original. Prints from the masters can give off the wrong impression. Also do not forget to measure the space you will need for your picture.
Visit some galleries or look online for the perfect piece. When you have received the item, do not forget our guide to hanging a painting to help you out!
Paint your walls
This is slightly more timeconsuming that just getting something to cover the walls but can be very effective, especially if the wall colour is quite plain or dark. If the room does not get much sun then a nice light or bright colour is best. If you get lots of light then you might want to experiment with something more exotic.
And remember, when you have finished painting your walls - buy some abstract or contemporary art or paintings to complement!
Invest in some new furniture
We spend most of our time at work sitting at a desk on a chair. It therefore makes sense to make these as nice and comfortable as possible.
It might also be a good idea to refresh or redesign your entrance or reception area. This is also good if you frequently have visitors or guests and keeps the office looking nice and vibrant
Install some new lighting
Lighting is important - especially if you have dark offices. Computer screens are very bright but it is important for the eyes to ensure that the rest of the room is not too dark.
Uplighting can help here and can make a room look bigger than it is. Make sure you choose natural light colours
Buy some plants
Plants or flowers serve two purposes. Firstly they have a design element to them and can really brighten or add colour to a room. Secondly, they help keep a room fresh and smelling nice.
Remember to buy plants that do not need much attention or watering otherwise they can become burdonsome. If you choose to go with flowers then make sure that you replace them regularly and change the colours and styles with the season.
